Tribute to Savitribai Phule-Pioneer of Women's Education in India



Awareness about Breast Cancer 

Students spread awareness about Breast Cancer. They visited women from marginalized society working in the industrial estate of Vasai East and gave information regarding early signs and symptoms of breast cancer. Appropriate audio visuals and posters were used to disseminate the information. 






Hygiene for Adolescent Girls









Sessions on hygiene for adolescent girls were conducted by Second Year B.Ed students. These sessions were conducted for about 60 girls who live in Veronica Niwas boarding for girls from tribal areas. Talks included information on personal hygiene, hormonal changes during adolescence and menstrual hygiene. 





Financial Literacy for Women

The Lions Club of Vasai Unique organised a special session on Financial Literacy. Dr Somnath Vibhute, St Gonsalo Garcia College conducted the session and gave valuable inputs regarding budgeting, finance management and use of e-money.


2015-16



The Women Cell organized an expert  talk on ‘Child Sexual Abuse: the role of teachers’ by Ms Clipsy Banji of Sakhya Foundation. Ms Clipsy elucidated how teachers play an important role in identifying child sexual abuse. She also spoke on the provisions of laws such as POCSO Act.

On International Women’s Day, special inputs highlighted issues pertinent to women empowerment. Throughout the year, socially relevant themes such as Save the Girl Child, Women Empowerment and Gender Equality were emphasized through assemblies.


2014-15



A display on Women Achievers was organized by Streevani Women's Cell. This included a display of charts and posters to highlight the contributions of women achievers. Demonstrations in self defence were conducted by Ms Archana Thorat. Researches were carried out to delve into issues related to problems faced by adolescent girls. Special assemblies were conducted to mark Women’s Day and Girl Child day.


Every year  a course in yoga stresses on exercises for women. Students are given inputs regarding proper diet to be maintained for good physical and mental health.
