International Women's Day 2019




International Women's Day 2019 was observed on 8 March. Sr Helen Correa, Jonella and Gracienne led the class into a meaningful assembly highlighting the theme 'Better the Balance, Better the World' . Students of F.Y.B.Ed had prepared videos based on the theme and some of these videos were played. Ms Gaurangini Kulkarni Shetty an alumnus of the 2013-14 batch was the chief guest. She has empowered over hundred homemakers by conducting free customised workshops to help them speak English. She has also facilitated linkages with schools in Europe thus helping teachers and students enhance their global perspective. Ms Gaurangini was felicitated for her initiatives.She shared her journey of empowerment and thus provided inspiring inputs to our students to help realise that a teacher is indeed a social engineer. 

Students worked in groups to prepare videos that reflected the theme "Better the balance better the world."





Self Defence Workshop 2018-19


Workshop in Self Defence

A Workshop in Self Defence was held for students on 17 and 19 October 2018. The resource persons Dr Sandhya Khedekar (Principal G.E.S College  of Education, Sangamner) and Mr Kapil taught the students various moves of blocking, defending oneself from attackers etc. Exercises were conducted to teach the importance of footwork and hand movements. Demonstrations were given and students practised basic moves in groups.. Queries of students regarding various possible situations were answered by providing appropriate demonstrations. Students expressed their satisfaction and said that they felt confident after practising the various techniques.  













NUTRITION FIESTA


The Department of  Food Nutrition and Dietetics , College of Home Science , Nirmala Niketan organised a Nutrition Fiesta. This was designed by students undergoing a Value added Course in Nutrition and Exercise for Fitness. The students used skits, presentations and discussion to emphasize the importance of right nutrition, exercise and ambience especially with respect to pre natal care of expectant mothers. The session entitled 'Nourish to Flourish' was supervised by the  coordinator Ms Rishika.
